Ahhh! Oh no, oh dear, oh my, ack! You're terrible with leaving us in suspense. Is it still going to get worse before it gets better? *starts pacing like mad, wringing hands, etc.* What a decision to have to make, and it's made liked I feared it would be. Poor Stauffenberg, poor Speidel, poor Rommel, poor everyone, except the Gestapo. Boy, I'd like to wring some of their necks.

I just love your writing style ! That's a great chapter, too. I was really hooked (I even stopped browsing Shanks pics while I was reading, and that's something, lol). My, my. Little choice left...
I think I would have reasoned in a slightly different way... :
The gestapo said they'd free Erwin If I was Speidel, I'd think :
The gestapo said they'd free Rommel. The Gestapo always lie So they won't free Rommel - that's just a trick to get me to talk.
If I was the gestapo (aacck) I'd think :
No one can withstand torture forever. So Speidel will eventually speak. But what if he lies ? Then, threatening him with his friend's life makes sense...
If I was Rommel (yay !), I'd think :
No one can withstand torture forever, besides the gestapo is probably lying. Conclusion ; Speidel will eventually speak, the gestapo won't release me, and we're in trouble... uh uh.
Hmm, just a detail :
"Von Stauffenberg stared back at him with the one eye that wasn’t swollen shut"
From what I've read, I think Stauffenberg had only one eye left...

Gah. Eye. I always have such trouble with people with one eye.
My uber-insane Prussian in Operation Gaff has the same thing (he's loosely based off of von Stauffenberg...but he DIES!!! MWAHAHAHA!!! Umm...yersh) and I seriously had to go back and edit it right after I was done with that chapter because I realised he only had one eye and I was pretty sure I said "eyes" at some point. *paces around ranting about why von Stauffenberg had to lose an eye* So CARELESS! (Of him!)
Hmm...Gestapo...hmm...sketchy. Well, Schaefer isn't exactly someone anyone can trust, but you shall see...*evil grin*

Yeah, not easy writing these injured people. In my last fic, there's this character who lost his arm, so I have the same problem. Von Stauffenberg was pretty badly maimed, I think he had like, three fingers left (hence his jokes about not doing anything with his ten fingers when he had them). Because he lost his right arm (I think that was the right one) and two fingers of his left hand. And an eye. Poor guy... He must have been very strong, mentally.

Heh, well, I'm not very good at criticism, other than grammatical stuff, and that's only when I really pick apart a story. I don't have the time to do that of late, Sorry, but I will say that I loved the chapter. Poor Speidel again... He's getting the worst of it by far. I'm glad Erwin isn't having the same troubles. And what are they up to? What's Stauffenberg doing? I'm curious again. Oh, and if you want to update Gaff for new Years, feel free.

Yersh, poor Hans...I think that was the worst bit over. *waves as Hans pokes head suspiciously around door* For him, at least. So many questions, so few answers....*grins evilly*
And yes, Gaff will be updated for New Years. I have the entire week off after this one, so I'll be busy. (Ah, the joys of private school...)

Hey, I know I'm repeating myself, but I loved this chapter. Although I really sympathized with poor, poor speidel. Usually, it's easy to tell which character a writer likes most... that's the character who gets the worse treatment But why isn't the Gestapo being mean with Erwin as well ? I mean, he's this high-ranking, legendary general, so they should be taking advantage of the occasion, or maybe there's an order from the brass not to injure him (in case they need propaganda material, like photographs, etc). But then, maybe some of the gestapo are admirers of the Desert Fox and will help him... hmm... so many questions, so few answers ! Aaaand we're still waiting for that gaff update *mischievous grin* You going to make me sleepless with all this suspense !

Oh dear, I don't mean to turn you into an insomniac...*worries*
Weeell...next chapter actually has some insights, believe it or not. (I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get to a fiendish plot, so far it's just been GAH DEATH TORTURE) And some answers too. Buuut, until then...*grins*
But don't worry, I'm really enjoying Chapter 4. It'll be done soon. Like maybe even tomorrow.

You better, it's New Years already, and we're awaiting... I hope they don't hurt Erwin in this story though. You're making me a little uneasy, to be truthful.

I finally got a chance to read it. I liked it, especially Erwin's pulling rank. "Impossible what?" "Impossible sir!" Kind of an oxymoron there, telling a superior it's impossible. I read somewhere, but I'm not positive, that once a German was promoted to field marshal, there was no way to remove his rank. He had it for life, along with the littler benefits that came with the job. A note to the outside world, eh? Well, the Allies better get here soon too. Very nice; please continue. (And if you want to update Gaff as well, feel free.)

"Impossible what?"
"Impossible, sir!"
Best part. Ever. *is shamelessly modest*

Hey, that's weird, you got the italics in this post... how comes it doesn't work in your story ? Ah, well. Ouch ! That gotta hurt ! When I read that I can't help but feel bad for poor Hans. But, really, the way he talks to his superior. "---- it, leave me alone !" And Erwin can talk about reckless Who charged three enemy soldiers with his bayonet because he had no bullet left ? Oooh, you used the phrase "I'm all ears"... I thought it was a french thing... That's what a friend told me anyway... I'll never listen to her ever again... Ouhahaha ! I love this part ! "Impossible what ?" I'm still laughing as I type this. "For certain kinds of people, appealing to ego worked excellently." Haha, that's Hans all right. He's so cunning and manipulating ! I like this chapter a lot... I didn't think that plan could really work, but you managed to make it sound actually plausible and feasible... I'm impressed... *bows in front of Wing* And these SS guys are vicious, aren't they ? Hmm... Isn't there even one of the guards who feels sympathetic with the prisoners ? Hem. So, when can we expect next chapter ?

*grins with embarrassment* Oooops...I didn't reply to this review...! Sorry! ...but I'll do it by paragraph. Yes, poor Hans, well, that's just the natural process, I suppose. Considering the level of medical care he got, it's to be expected. *shrugs helplessly* And yes, he's allowed to yell at Erwin at times like that...who is insanely reckless, he really has no right to blame Hans for anything dodgy he did. Pfft. We say 'I'm all ears' too! You better tell your friend differently, I use it all the time. I don't know about German though, actually, but I guess I can get away with it. Impossible sir, of course. What else do you expect him to say? I mean, really. And I may just introduce a sympathetic guard next chapter...but maybe not...time shall tell! *dramatic music*

How about suspensful Jaws music if there's no update soon? Consider yourself the scuba diver. Be scared; be very scared. Unless...you happen to update soon. Then Jaws might find other prey. "I'm all ears", definitely used in America.
