This is just that thread we were going to start, folks. A place to discuss story ideas, issue challenges, what-not. As soon as I gather my notes, I'm going to put out my ideas for my Change story (from FF.net). It's going to take a loooong time for me to research the stuff in order to get it right, I may need some help, and since nobody but us are on here; you'll be getting a sneak peak into the storyline. You can tell me if it's too farfetched, as well.
First though, I've got a challenge. What's the strangest storyline concerning Rommel that you've ever wanted to write? (if you're comfortable sharing it on here.) I've thought up some pretty odd stuff myself.

That's great ! Can't wait to have this sneak peak in the storyline. I love doing that. I'll tell you what I think in details, promise, lol.
Going on story ideas, remember that writing competition I told you about ? It had to have a climax and everything. I thought of an idea : a dialogue between Rommel and Karl Strolin, when Strolin tries to convince him to get involved in the plot. The question being... Is he gonna say yes or no ? Well, of course, anyone with background knowledge in history won't be that surprised at the end... but you wouldn't believe the number of people who never heard of Rommel. The only thing is, I think I remember reading somewhere that it was Speidel who convinced Rommel, so does any of you know who actually did it ? Wing, our Speidel expert, what do you say ?
As for your challenge... That's pretty complicated. I'm afraid I'll have to think about it in details before I can provide an answer. Sometimes I get ideas so darn ridiculous that I don't even bother to write them down... Well, there was this cross over involving Rommel, North Africa and a Stargate, that I actually started to write... about three pages before giving up.

Okay, I just had the weirdest idea. Not about Rommel though, it involves Patton. (Speaking of him, I read a thing on fictionpress where a history teacher called him a psycho-maniac or something like that... 'twas fun). I told you about this anime character whose name was Patty, and that made me laugh. Well, this cartoon character was a cook (figures, with a name like that...), so I thought "what if Patton had not signed up in the army ? What if, instead, he had become a cook ?"
Aaaargh. Try to imagine Patton as a cook. That's pretty horrific. Not as much as imagining him as a ballet dancer, but almost.

Okay, imaging him as a ballet dancer is just wrong...*shudders and blocks image out of mind*
The strangest Rommel story idea...definitely the one that I had a dream about. See, Ryan and I went out to pizza one night, and we were musing about what we would do if Rommel walked in right now, and then that night I had a dream about it. 'Twas strange.

You dreamt about Rommel casually walking in the pizzeria where you were eating ? Care to mentally broadcast your dreams ? I want this one ! Though, he could also be a doppelganger - just like Hogan and that poor, poor Lang.
As for Patty as a ballet dancer... I could draw it... would make great material for blackmailing you into updating, neh ?

So, does Rommel like cheese or Pepperoni on his pizza?

One of my stranger thoughts is kind of connected with one of my drawings, and partially owed to Wing's story on FF.net. I was thinking what might happen if Rommel got into Narnia, from the movie Chronicles of Narnia, stranger yet, what if he'd been turned into a centaur when he got thrown in? That's where the centaur pictures came from. I thought he might take over Aslan's army and whip the Witch's army in battle, even though outnumbered. Then he could teach them how to modernize their war tactics. How would he fit a horse body into a tank though? I guess they'd have to change tanks a little. Anyway, that's one of my odder ones, but I kinda like it.

Any chance you might actually write it ? No ? Even if I beg you ?

Actually, there is a small chance I might. I've been kicking the idea around for months. When should Rommel be pulled into Narnia, for instance. 1941? 1942? Should he be in Africa at the time? I'm leaning that way. Then when he finds himself in snow, it'll be all the more shocking. It might be fun describing how he manages to work four feet underneath him. Who does he run into first, good guys or bad guys? So many questions, so many things to muse about. Now remember, it's only a small chance.

Ah, that's the question we have so much fun wondering about. Especially during my public institutions course. He could be pulled in Narnia just before Hitler calls him back definitely. Or maybe, just after his return and when he disappears, his men are just sooo worried about him... or he could be arrested by the Gestapo and hide in a wardrobe... and discover it is a very strange wardrobe indeed. Then, working four legs would be tricky. He could help the good guys, then be captured by the bad guys. Or no, much better ; he could meet the bad guys, and they would deceive him into believing they're actually the good guys. He'd become a general of the bad guys when they discover what an awesome tactician he is ; then the good guys would capture him, and they'd have to convince him they are indeed the good guys.
...
It sounded so much clearer in my head...

NO!!!! That's so my idea! I already wrote a story about a Messerschmitt pilot being sucked into Narnia...and now the main character's the new main character of my uber-novel. WEIRD. The DS is STALKING my train of thought... Looketh: www.fanfiction.net/s/2819431/1/

And how comes you didn't tell us about it until now ? Hmmm ? Had a look at it. I like it very much. Love the name Heindrich too... So far, he doesn't sound that nazi... he's more like following orders. No thoughts about Aryan superiority and stuff like that. My guess is he'll change a lot...
Eighty-six kills ? Lol ! You gave him six more than Richthofen ! He's not much of a secret agent though. Slipping in the language, swearing in German... !
The Führor ? That's original...
And I definitely want to watch "Cooking with WWII’s Dictators" ! You should post it somewhere.
I have trouble accessing to the fourth chapter, but I love it so far ! (and here we go, yet another story to update, nyuhuhuh)

I thought of Rommel in Narnia a few weeks after I saw it in the theaters. The centaur idea came a few weeks later, don't know why. Well, that is strange; great minds think alike, I guess. The ideas might sound really similar, but how 'bout if I don't let him be taken in by the bad guys? There the stories would become quite different, I'm thinking from your hints. And I am making him a centaur; that's quite a bit different. Or another idea. I may throw him into another Chroncles story, like the Horse and his Boy, or Prince Caspian. Both those deal with older Peters and Susans, Lucies and Edmunds. (More and more though I'm getting stuck on making him a centaur during transition; I think it would be fun to write. He could be a kind of dusty tan color, like a desert Barb or Brumby, with black fur from the knees down, so he could keep his boots. He'd be this sort of tough, short little horse.) Maybe I'll even illustrate the story, since most of Narnia's characters are animals. I wish I could draw the whole thing as a comic book too, but that would take too much time, and I'm not that good yet. Now remember, I might just write this. It's all thought right now, though I must admit, I'm getting excited about the prospect.

Oh, you go ahead and do whatever you want. I don't really mind--Rommel in Narnia is a recipe for hilarity--it's just funny how we both had the idea...I, too, got the idea right after I saw Narnia in theatres. *winces* Yes, Qual, I was quite original then...that was the beginning of my World War II obsession taking me out over the head and flooring me. The Fuhror included. (Scheiss!) xD And eighty-six kills by then (it's around '43, I know, doesn't make sense, but that's how I wrote it) were feasible, although not common. I edited the main novel I included Heinrich (no "d" teehee, another inaccuracy) in so he less of an ace, although he's still rather good.

I never thought of writing Rommel in Narnia, but that must be because I don't love narnia that much... I mean, it's nice, but I still prefer the Lord of the Rings. But please go ahead, DS, it sounds sooo much fun ! Theatre, that another word for cinema ? *checking her dictionary* Ha, movie theatre ?
As for the 86 kills, well, I'm not saying that's not possible, (especially since planes were probably more common in WW2 than WW1, and so there was probably more of them, therefore more to shoot), I'm just surprise that the SS would ask an ace to do that kind of job. Figured they'd ask someone who's less useful in the air. Heinrich's my favourite German name, I like the "ch" at the end. But it makes me think too much of Himmler, that's why Kaltenhorst's given name is Aldrich instead - that's a bit less common a name.
So, so, where is the main novel ? *puppy-eyes*
Ah, darn, gotta go - we have a debate to prepare for our english course. And I don't have the slightest idea.
