Oh yeah, old notes, I know about that. I try to keep my notes on my laptop as much as possible, so as not to lose them, but it's not always possible. As for the German ; actually, I didn't have too much trouble, I understood most of it anyway. Then again, having all the dialogues in German might be a problem, but only if there's a lot of them. I mean, when speaking with SG1, Rommel will necessarily use English. If there are just a few dialogues in German, actually using German might be a good thing. If most of the dialogues are in English, it's all right.
When writing something that's supposed to be another language, by the way, you can also use italics. For instant, say "everything that's in italics is German".
By the way, forgot to ask, what about the Russians ? They were defeated by the Germans as well ? I don't remember whether it was mentioned in the timeline and I don't have time to check right now...

Kablewy ? What does that mean ? Well, I can guess, but just so I'm sure what it means before I use the word again. Okay, I'll be sure to check the timeline before I go asking stupid questions, next time ^^

Lol... I'm misspelling it, just so you know. Its similiar to "kaput" which is German for "finished" or "gone". Kablewy is more childish and cartoonish than a serious word. You would hear a child say "kablewy" more often than you would hear an adult say it.
Anyway, I wont be using German as a dialogue between characters except when I want to cover some words or phrases that may be considered offending to others, such as explixitives, or when I want to add some "flavor" to the story. The only other German that'll be in the story is just for terms such as rank, or names of devices or locations and so forth.

I should have read page 2 before I started typing - most of my questions have been answered. This sounds intriguing! Will some of the events in the timeline be mentioned in flashback or is it just here for reference? There is something very amusing about imagining a sprightly, cane-waving, 116-year old Rommel still in active service in the Wehrmacht, but I don't think that's the image you intended. Does the immortality-conferring technology Rommel (and presumably most of the SG elite) are using have psychological side effects? You mention in the timeline that Hitler's personality changed dramatically when he was resurrected, so is the age-renewal a partial cause for Rommel's new ruthlessness? IMO keeping the German ranks and terms of address is far better than translating them into English - you're right about the atmosphere.
