I was inspired for this piece whilst watching the very first part of The Desert Fox, when Desmond Young first sees Rommel in the road. I just took out the Afrika Korps contingent and the trucks and (after some agonizing) his field marshal's baton too. More practical that way, you see. Any and all reviews/comments may go here...

Hey, not bad. The background would warrant some more detail, but I like how he looks like, all thoughtful. It's pretty hard to draw realistic scenes, you did a good job with this one. Did you use the movies picture as a model, or only for inspiration ? That's only pencil, right ? What kind of pencil did you use ? Usually, for a simple sketch, I use a HB pencil, and once the drawing is done, I complete the shades with a 4 or 5 B pencil. When it's really dark, I use a 8B pencil. Do you also use blurrers ? (I'm not sure how that would be called in english, in french "estompe". That's something used for shading, to make the pencil lines blur together. The result is often really neat).
Do you take drawing courses ? I always hated courses, 'cause the teachers make us draw stuff that's not very thrilling (okay, I'll admit it, I don't wanna draw pears). But that's also true that people who take courses often draw better than me, so I guess there is some use to said courses...
What's your favourite drawing technic ? I personnally use only pencils. Do you paint or use a computer too ?

Hey, that's very nice; I like it. I like the idea that the background could use more detail, but one of my pictures doesn't even have a background. How long did it take you to do this? I like to use an H pencil to do the initial sketch, then anywhere from a 2B to a 5B to do most of the shading. My teacher's always after me to use the 9B. My pears aren't actually turning out too bad, but they're not thrilling, as you say. I'll try to keep fixing my scanner, but I have some cartoon drawings that aren't very shaded that I could try to post.

Pears...lol...thanks, you two. I just sketched this on on a hard surface in bed with a regular old #2 pencil, actually...I was in a random mood and I wasn't at all tired, so I decided to draw it as I'd just watched The Desert Fox and I liked the scene at the beginning, which I used as an inspiration, not so much as a model. I wasn't planning on doing the background so much--I was focusing more on him than the scenery--but now that I think about it, I might just draw in some background, maybe even colour it in.

Yeah, I think working some more on the background would be a good idea. You too draw in bed ? lol, when I was done with my "Rommel taking apart his panzer", after three or four hours, all my bones were kinda stuck because I'd stayed in the same position for so long... I like the scene at the beginning of the Desert Fox too, but I don't think I could draw it. There are pics that just don't want to come to me, and it's no use trying in that case - it'll be bad. DS - Ah,the 9B... I've got one (my mother was kind enough to give me a set of pencils from 5H to 9B) but I almost never use it. Teachers are just a pain, aren't they ? So, what's he making you draw, after these pears ? Some more pears ? And do send these cartoon drawings, I'm curious to see them.

Hey, good job, and I don't mean to be a turdnugget or anything, but the background could use more detail. Excellent overall though, its hanging on my bulletin board in my room, I am actually looking at it right now.
Now, how about Rommel in his Panzer? (With perhaps a side of Monty/Patton action going on?)
