I like your new addition to your signature. So have you gotten into any good Patty-vs-Rommel arguments lately?

Yes, if that... creature *shudders* likes Patty, there must have been quite some yelling in your house. Did the neighbours ask whether someone was killed ?

Yeah, throw the poor bum out. I must say this for him; he did do his part to bring Hitler's Reich to an end, and for that I'm grateful. Heh, yes, there I'd have to agree...although I do with that someone had washed his mouth out with soap beforehand... I guess another good thing about Patton is that he wasn't afraid to "wage war" when it comes down to that... which is, quite frankly, more than can be said for the US military in the recent wars...

I kinda remember reading somewhere that Patton was really mad when Rommel left Africa. Evidently, with all his destiny belief stuff, Patton thought it was their destiny to meet in battle. Patton was a fatalist? ? Good God! (Or would that be Mein Gott? ;D) This guy is weird... and what do you mean he believed in reincarnation, anyway? Reincarnation as in Hindu-reincarnation? heheh, I be he was reincarnated into an ant, then...Patton the ant...

Well, I'm not exactly sure what kind of reincarnation that was... lord, it's been a long time since I watched the Patton movie, and since I don't really like him, I never really bothered to find out. But I don't think it had to do with the whole karma-thing, more like the common beliefs of previous lives. Besides, wasn't Patton a Christian ? Not sure about that, though... Patton the and - I like that !
Oh, and forget what I said about scratching Patton from the list of resurrected people - I'd love to see him starting an argument with Rommel !

Wow...I just realized that I had written that post about Patton's destiny over a year ago...We're getting old, this poor forum. Well, if Patton believed in reincarnation, and I believe he did, then he certainly wasn't a Christian. I think he was brought up in a Christian-style home, but reincarnation wouldn't fit with that. It wasn't a Hindu type of reincarnation, but the belief that he had been certain people in his "past lives." I remember reading in some Desert warfare book that he claimed to have visions of his past lives. Rather an odd character, but we already knew that.

Patton wasn't that bad *ducks a barage of rotten tomatoes* Yeah he wasn't the nicest guy but he was a smart man and a good strategist with a killer instinct to match the most die-hard Nazis. In Europe he got the job done and got is done quickly and effectively, and without him the war could easily have dragged on for much longer. And for the record, yes I do this he's overrated, particularly by those in the US who worship him as a god of war.

Well, truth is, we know Patty wasn't that bad. But it's just so much fun to bash him He was certainly a good strategist (wouldn't have made general, otherwise), even though he lacked a certain amount of social skills. But the eponymous movie does nothing to make him look nice...
