And here it goes. I created a whole board for non-Rommel related stuff, thought it'd be easier to get around. So, we need to find a plot, and see who'd be interested in writing. There're at least DS and me... (DS, do you want to create a board for a LotR round robin ?)
Same rules as the Rommel Round Robin. So, what would be the plot ? Do we use the original characters (Sparrow, Will, etc) or do we create new ones, or both ? We can even use pirates who really existed such as Rackham, Roberts, etc etc...

I've only ever seen the first movie, so I'm running off that information on the characters. Maybe combine fictional and historical. When was Pirates, timewise? Who would have been Jack's peers?

I'm not sure about the date, but probably set during the Golden Age of Piracy, early 18th century. So Jack's peers would have been Avery, Roberts, Rackham... Stede Bonnet, Mary Read, Ann Boney, maybe even Woodes Rogers... I'll have to check on wikipedia.

Okay, I checked on wikipedia, and Pirates is set in the early to mid 18th century. Since it's rather vague, we have a good freedom of action...
I had a look on the list of pirates between 1690 and 1730, I won't list them all, but the most famous among them are Black Bart, (aka Bartholomew Roberts), Black Bellamy (aka Samuel Bellamy), Blackbeard (aka Edward Teach), Stede Bonnet, Ann Bonny, Howell Davis, Edward England, Henry Avery, Benjamin Hornigold, Calico Jack (Jack Rackham), William Kidd, captain Misson, Mary Read, Woodes Rogers, Thomas Tew, and Charles Vane.

I've always liked Blackbeard...He was so very flamboyant, tying burning fuses in his hair and what not. Here's one of the more interesting episodes I've ever read, taken from an online sight, burleygames.
"According to Daniel Defoe, Hands was, on occasion, the victim of Blackbeard’s cruelty. Teach was drinking one night in his cabin with Hands and another man in North Carolina, when he quietly drew out a small pair of pistols and fired them at Israel Hands under the table. Although one shot missed, the other went through Hands’ knee. He was lame, as a result, for the rest of his life. According to Daniel Defoe: “ Being asked for the meaning of this, Teach only replied, by - them, that if he did not now and again kill one of them, they would forget who he was”."
That might be an interesting character for Jack and Will, or whoever, to run into.

Haha, yeah, I read Defoe's book, and Blackbeard appears to have been one cruel man. I myself am more interested in Bellamy and Roberts. Bellamy was incredibly successful as a pirate... and incredibly unlucky, for he died in a storm at age 28. Roberts was the second most successful pirate of all times, with over 470 ships attacked and plundered.
Blackbeard would do a nice bad guy. He could covet the Pearl, since it's so fast and all. And since he doesn't know where it is and all, he might try to take Will hostage and try to force him to tell about the Black Pearl's whereabouts, or maybe let it known he has young Mr. Turner, so as to force Jack to come by. What do you think ?

I can't remember which one was known as the Gentleman Pirate. Was that Roberts?
Blackbeard would make a great villian, all right, but he'd have to come a long way to get Sparrows ship. Or would The Black Pearl come to him?
Here follows some odd rambling. Since I haven't seen the second movie, I may make no sense, but here goes.
Will's dad used to be Sparrow's friend on the Black Pearl, Bill Turner. What if Blackbeard were to lure Will up to the Carolinas with rumors that Bill Turner had assets there? Like land or a business granted by the king from long ago. Will could take a ship up to the Carolinas, and the ship could be attacked by Blackbeard's bloodthirsty crew. Will would be held captive, like you said Qual, and Blackbeard would somehow get word to Sparrow.
Of course, Sparrow would need some sort of incentive to go save Will, so maybe our story could be slightly AU and happen during the first movie. Blackbeard could take Will captive before Sparrow got Will's blood to break the curse. But then Barbossa still had the Black Pearl and not Sparrow. Maybe if it's AU, Sparrow could trick Barbossa into losing the Black Pearl. hmmm... Like I said, senseless rambling, but it's good to talk stuff out.
What do you think?

It's a pretty good idea, but the AU thing sounds a bit complicated. Or maybe... Blackbeard could covet the Black Pearl, and he knows Sparrow is the only one who has even a remote chance to take it back, because he's the only one who knows where the Isla de Muerta is. So he needs Sparrow. And here we go with Will's abduction. And, to go rescue Will, Sparrow will need a ship, so he asks an old pirate buddy (Roberts ?) to take him onboard and help him save Will.
Then again, Jack would still need a good incentive to save Will. Well, since he obviously does have feelings for Elizabeth, we could use that. Or he could need Will because Bill Turner heard about his son being abducted and asked him, since they were friends... Or Will could have inherited more than just the medallion from Bill, like a treasure map or anything like that...
