You fiend ! How dare you leave us like that ? I wanna knooooow ! Loved this chapter even more than the others. Rommel's absence, teehee. Pretty nice way to put it. And poor Rommel ! I sympathize, since I haven't slept either since sunday (well, now I have, but I missed this russian course I was supposed to go to...) When you are that tired, you fall asleep without even realizing it. Great chapter, at any rate. But where is the end ? Where ? Where ?

Haha ! Now that's getting interesting. Very pleasant read ! Each time I start reading your chapters, I can't stop until I'm done. Hmm, won't Hans get used to his new command ? And then, when Erwin comes back - if he does, indeed, come back - Hans won't want to give him back the army... I was glad to see von Luck as well. Although, it's kind of a mystery what he's going near a roadblock. I mean, he's a colonel ! Poor Rommel, things aren't easy for him. He must be pretty tired (I know exactly how he must feel, just like me this afternoon in the middle of our info class...) It'll be interesting - very interesting indeed - to see this interrogation. Teh, a field marshall ! Imagine the number of secrets he knows ! But they probably wouldn't dare to torture him. It would make for some bad propaganda on the Germans' part. And it's a lot of fun to see mother hen Gunther ! I SO want to read chapter five, now ! (yup, I now, it never ends

I love it, once again. When's chapter 5 gonna get here? Just as a side note, I think Eisenhower made it his policy never to entertain German Generals during the war, but maybe he might make an exception in Rommel's case. I'm not sure. Poor Hans has got quite a job ahead of him. Poor thing, this in this story, and torture in the other. You're hard on him. And there's just no way the Allies would torture the Desert Fox, so rest easy, Gunther.

The Allies, probably not, but Patton, I don't know... Good thing Rommel isn't Patty's prisoner then

@ Qual: Give back the army? What do you think Hans is, insane? Pfft. Kidding, kidding...or am I...hmm... I'm glad you enjoyed it! This was a fun one to write, even though it wasn't very exciting action wise. And yes, Herr von Luck makes an appearance! (I must confess, I couldn't help it) And he actually did mention in his book that he briefly did in fact do roadblock duty with his unit shortly after D-Day, so...there. I don't know if he was doing it on that exact date, but I did want to use him. @ds: Hold your horses, DS, Chapter 5 isn't going to magically appear in the next...erm...three or four days before I go out to Utah! (Yes, going to Utah for the week, huzzah. I'll try to finish the first part, but no guarentees...) Where did you hear that about Eisenhower? *glares at Ike* He's proving very obstructive to my plans. Never fear, however, world domination will be complete by the end of the month...er....heh. Just kidding? Well, I'm already planning a scene where he runs into Monty, should be interesting... Erwin: Was?Monty: I say, I took North Africa single-handedly, wot! *sticks out tongue* Erwin: GRRRRAARRR. *throttles* So, m'dears, thanks for the reviews, now Gunther shall come and hand out chocolates for lack of better things to do besides bully our Desert Fox...

Yes, Eisenhower can be pretty annoying, nay ? Although, not as much as Patton, I have to say. This scene with Monty ought to be pretty amusing, at any rate.
So you're going to Utah ? *tries not to show that she doesn't have the slightest idea where that is in the US* And what are you going to do there ?

I know ! Himmler wants to mount a rescue operation, doesn't he ? And this poor SS guy will have to take care of it, ha ! But when he arrives, the Allies will have persuaded Rommel to turn traitor, and he will refuse to come back to Germany ! ... Okay, let me guess. I got it all wrong, didn't I ? At any rate, I loved how you characterized them. Himmler's pretty hard to write, I think, but you did well.

Hmm...I don't trust Himmler one tiny bit. He'd better not be planning anything bad, but then, that's what he always did. Sigh...
Liked the teaser trailer to chapter 5.

Why, why did I watch "Foyle's War", "Goldeneye," read this fic and go to sleep? The "Foyle's War" episode was about a German POW who was murdered, but I was amazed that they actually let the POWs out of the camps and made them work in the fields, so their farm labourers could be conscripted without slowing food production. "Goldeneye" has a tank chase in it. So my dream went something like this: Monty, Patton, Eisenhower: We are here to interrogate Rommel. Like we have done for the past week, Monty is here to be nasal and up himself, Patton wants to gloat about how he conquered Africa single-handedly and Eisenhower will threaten to kill the other prisoner unless Rommel answers his questions. Guard at "farmhouse": He'll be with you in a minute. *guilty twitch* He actually escaped his room, but the area has been totally secured. Armed guards, roadblocks, every vehicle searched, orders to shoot on sight. Nothing is going to escape. We even called in a tank battalion! Tank: *vroom* Patton: We'll wait until the fox is caught. It's not like I have anything else to do, commanding a fake army group. *scowls* Tank: *nearly drives over the Generals* Generals: Stop the tank! Rommel is in it! Rommel: Auf Wiedersehen! I'll see you and you army group of nothing in Normandy Herr Patton! *blows up every army vehicle around* ...Yes, I have strange dreams. But if most of the DAK were POWs in England, all Rommel would have to do would be to arm them - the Allies have already done the hard work in Operation Sealion by taking the German soldier to the UK. So it's wishful thinking. That doesn't matter....
You started the letter with "Dearest Lu!" I love that. More of the scheming SS would be good too. It would be really galling for Rommel to owe his life to troops that were so contemptuous of the Wehrmacht and not too moral either.
