That's the problem with him, one can never guess what he might do. I guess that was the big question Allies High Command always asked themselves during the operations in North Africa... I decided to indulge my own little fantasy. Yeah, I know, I'm weird.

Although I would love to take care of him, he might just start speaking in German, to asses his situation. Like Qual said, he was very unpredictable.

Of course, then he'd find out I couldn't speak German. He'd begin to suspect something strange was going on; once he found out then he'd pass out and I'd get to take care of him. I guess I win either way. Sadly, I don't think he's going to show up. But if this post suddenly stops, you'll know what happened.

Now, there's a fanfic idea. Actually, I found something on fictionpress, the Rommel file or something like that, and it was just that ; Rommel appeared in nowaday US. Only, it was very short... But for something really meaningful to happen, he'd have to show up in the middle of a crisis (Alien interference ?).

Heheh...I actually did a fanfic on that a while ago when Rommel walked into my school...wishful thinking.

How would you explain to Rommel about his wherebouts if you couldn't speak German and he showed up at your house? Everyone would just think you crazy if you tried to pass him off as the Desert Fox. I guess you'd have to keep him a secret, stuff him in the closet when people came by.

Loool ! I love this idea (might write a short fanfic). I guess I'd call in my friend who's fluent in German (and I asked him to teach me. We barely started, but I know enough to tell him I don't speak German and to introduce myself). Wie heisst du ?
Thinking of which... what languages did the Desert Fox speak ? As far as I know, neither french nor english. Swabian, of course, but that's not exactly a language...

He spoke some French, a little bit of English (he asked Lucie to send down a pocket dictionary when things were looking a bit bleak in North Africa), and High German along with Swabian.

Lool ! We should add that bit in the mp3 thingie... "Lucie, the British are getting a little close, would you send me my dictionary please ?" And then we have Monty who intercepts the transmission and has a good laugh reading this... He spoke french ? Yeeeah ! (means if he suddenly appears near my computer, I'll be able to explain to him what's going on...)

A bit. I remember this story from The Rommel Murder, I think...
This lady walked up to him in France, tugged on his sleeve, and asked, "Vous etes anglais?" (Don't know the Alt keys for the accents) When he responded, "Non, madam, je suis allemand," she ran back into the house screaming, "Oh, les barbares!"
o.O Poor Erwin.
